The Secret to No More Boring Images
(DON'T READ THIS IF YOU'RE SENSITIVE!)

Are the images you're posting really boring but the Facebook or Instagram community is really just giving you likes to be "socially polite".

Above are dozens of past movie posters. Highly paid creative photo editors arranged "original" shoots each time to create "high impact" movie posters. In these images are four boring categories; peoples' backs, two people leaning on each other, big heads over little people, and something happening between two legs.

Are you using the same old image composition, the same filters, the same sunsets with same reflection, the wedding photographer shooting bride and groom on the same spiral staircase set up, and on, and on, and on.

There's something to be said about developing a specific style and type of photography, but boring is boring. Not challenging yourself as a photographer to grow is a disservice to yourself and to your creativity.

You have talent, skill and a great eye, but you keep putting out the same old stuff, over and over. If you want your images to really have impact, you have to keep challenging yourself as a photographer and your creative image workflow.

Even if you only want to shoot portraits, or animals, or just landscapes, you have to keep sharpening all of your tools to improve those specific shots. You have to constantly change your perspective and view of what you are shooting to improve.

Try capturing images of animals on sunsets if all you shoot is newborn babies. The change and challenge will improve your newborn portraits. If you doubt this then feel free to join the ranks of those "highly creative" photo editors above that keep following the same old patterns over and over.

How do you NOT shoot boring images? How do you you create images with impact? I am sure you have seen these type images that just knock you down and "Wow" you. In order to shoot and create these type of images you must learn a new editing tool, idea, or concept. See a new composition, color, or image creation. Learn new software or equipment. You must challenge yourself to find one of these new ideas at least 1X per week. 52 small improvements a year. That's all it takes.

CANI is a word I believe was first coined by the self-development guru, Tony Robbins. It's meaning is "Constant and Never-Ending Improvement". The Japanese term Kaizen goes back many years and refers to the same.

Begin learning all over again today. Challenge yourself to learn, again. Become a beginner again today. Search for free or paid training programs online. Get yourself a coach. I have had a coach in almost every successful venture I have taken. The challenge is on! Grow or go boring!
